I know you want to say Amen. You see the title and think of someone else. Someone who wronged you. Someone who holds you emotionally captive. Likewise, someone who made you cry. But stop. This isn’t about them. This is about you. This is about the power you’ve allowed hatred to have over your life.
The Chains of Hatred
Hatred binds. It clouds your mind. It poisons your heart. It whispers lies and feeds your fears. It steals your hope and leaves you weary. You think you’re holding on to protect yourself, but you’re not. Hatred doesn’t just hurt the other person. It hurts you more.
The Stealing of Strength
Hatred robs your strength. It weighs you down. It keeps you stuck in the past. It builds walls around your heart. And your soul. You feel safe behind those walls, but you’re not. They block out peace. They block out joy. They block out light. The light of life.
The Illusion of Control
Hatred fools you. It makes you think you’re in control. That holding on will make things right. But it’s a lie. Hatred controls you. It dictates your thoughts, your actions, your words. You’re not free. You’re a prisoner.
The Need for Freedom
Freedom begins with a choice. A hard one. The choice to let go. Not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace. Forgiveness isn’t weakness. It’s strength. It’s the act of breaking free. Free from the chains. Free from the hurt.
The Power of Love
Love heals. Love restores. Love lifts the weight. Love doesn’t erase the pain, but it changes how you carry it. Love lets you rise above. Love opens the door to peace. “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8).
The Help of God
You can’t do this alone. God can help. He knows your pain. He sees your wounds. And He waits. He waits to heal you. He waits to give you peace. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Let Him in.
The New Year Promise
This year, make someone a promise. Not to hold on, but to let go. Let go of the pain. Let go of the bitterness. Let go of the power hatred has over you. Step into freedom. Step into love. Step into God’s peace.
Your Power Over Me Ends Now
Hatred, your time is up. You’ve stolen enough. You’ve hurt enough. You’ve stayed long enough. Your power over me ends now. I choose freedom. I choose forgiveness. I choose love. Welcome, 2025.
